“Thanks for letting us stay here Cosco,” said Proxy grinning as the gang struggled to see through the inky black darkness they were surrounded in.
“Follow me,” said Cosco, rather gruffly, pushing the gang along with his tentacles.
The rather dark and dingy staircase smelled greatly of dirty and the wallpaper was rather grimy and had many tears and holes in it. However Cosco seemed to have perfect memorized where to go as in the darkness as he lead them down to another landing where there was an entrance with writing too worn out to read. The faint sound of music could be heard just beyond it as Cosco opened the door and let them in.
They were greeted with a total change in atmosphere as they stepped into the brightly lit lounge and their senses were bombarded with bright lights and loud, lively jazz music and the smells of fine foods and delicacies.
Cosco just chuckled upon seeing their reactions, “Welcome to the Red Speakeasy, my friends.”
"Whoa!" Brian exclaimed, as he looked around. "This...This is amazing!"
"No kidding," Randall commented. "I haven't seen a place this clean since...ever."
"Plus, you don't listen to these kinds of musics anymore," Kelsey commented. "Seriously, the music we have right now aren't the same as before."
"Not to mention real foods," Jake added. "It even smells like the real deal."
“Safe zone away from the safe zone,” saids Proxy as she departs from the group.
“Whoa whoa whoa,” saids Jake. “Where are you going, I thought you were with us?”
“Me? I ain’t going nowhere,” assures Proxy. “But I have things to do, so just chill and wait for the hostess.”
And with that, Proxy walks away towards one of the doors. Meanwhile the gang though astonished to the establishment are also confused to what do next.
“What do we do now?” asked Jake as they looked around for any familiar faces.
“Well someone here has got to know how to get us safe passage back to the Yellow Zone,” interjected Brian as Kelsey shrugged.
“Does seem like the kind of place we could find a smuggler of some sorts.”
“Right, Brian and Kelsey, why don’t you scout out the bar, see if you can find anyone who can get us safe passage back to the Yellow Zone. Randal and I will meet this hostess.”
With that they gang went their separate ways with Brian and Kelsey heading off to find a smuggler and Jake and Randal preparing to meet the hostess.
“Well here I am,” said a rather enthusiastic and familiar voice as the duo turned around.
Jake and Randall turned around and saw that their hostess...was none other than Proxy herself, looking a bit elegant though the outfit has knitted patches, but something that Proxy wouldn’t usually wear. It was the last thing that the duo was expecting at all.
"No way," Jake was surprised by this.
"Yes way," Proxy couldn't help but giggle back to Jake's response.
"This is your job around here?" asked Randall, just as speechless as Jake was.
"You got that right," Proxy smiled.
"I mean don't get me wrong, but health benefits and bonuses are essentially non existent," adds Proxy as she toys with her hair. "But sure as hell is better than working for those overlords".
As she picks up some menus, Proxy turns around at them, "So you fellas are hungry or what?"
"Uhhh well yeah but,' replies Jake. "I had to 'pay' just to get inside here."
"For heaven sake," annoyingly replies Proxy. "How about this, this my treat for you guys...for now. So follow me for your tables."
“So how exactly did you get this whole gig of running this underground speakeasy?” asked Jake as the duo were escorted to their table.
“It wasn’t easy, especially with all the Peacekeepers sniffing around,” said Proxy sighing as the two sat down and Proxy pulled up a chair. “Though this place did gain a lot of support from other underground resistance fighters who kinda saw this as their own place for R & R and the rest is history.”
“So how many of these resistance fighters are familiar faces?” asked Randal leaning in closer with interest as Proxy smiled.
“Looking for news about Ev? She passed through here two days ago, she’s still alive and kicking. Carrie and Principal Brown have also been a great help in getting this place a little recognition as well.”
“Sounds like you’ve got yourself quite the establishment,” said Randal, leaning back in relief upon hearing his girlfriend was alright.
"Oh yeah, it was so worth it," Proxy said with confidence.
"I'm glad that we were able to find this place," Jake smiled. "It's nice to be around somewhere that doesn't put our lives at stake, let alone being constantly watched on a daily basis."
"As long as we maintain a low profile, we'll continue to thrive," Proxy spoke with assurance.
"Say, what happens if they do find this place?" Jake suddenly grew worried over the possibility of the speakeasy being found by the Peacekeepers.
“Pffttt as if, this place is foolproof,” confidently says Proxy. “But in the hypothetical scenario that we do...we be fucked.”
Proxy maintains a happy smile while both Randal and Jake are shocked by the response.
“What is wrong with you?” saids Randal.
“Anyhooo, I will leave you two nut jobs,” Proxy ignoring Randal. “Someone will attend to you fellas shortly, so hasta la vista baby!”
Proxy skips away while the guys are left at the tables.
“Soooo are we gonna order something?”
“Yeah...why the hell not.”
Shortly after, Brian and Kelsey reunite with Jake and Randal. However their faces doesn’t seem to reflect the mood of everyone else.
“What’s wrong babe?” asks Jake with concern. “Did you find anyone that can take us?”
“Well that’s the bad news Jake,” replies Kelsey. “There is no one willing to takes us.”
“Well then, we’ll just have to make it home on our own,” said Jake sighing as he folded his arms together.
“Seems to me like that’s our only option,” insisted Randal as the other two nodded in agreement. “We leave this place whenever the curfew ends and then we return to the Yellow Zone.”
The group agreed on what they would do as Proxy brought them their food.
“Oh, this is my favorite part of the show?” said Proxy catching the attention of the others.
“Why’s that?” asked Brian raising an eyebrow.
“It’s when I get to perform,” said the wolf with a wink as she made her way on stage.
"Really?" Randal, as well as his friends, were surprised by this.
"That's right," Proxy cheerfully said.
"I didn't know you were a singer," Brian commented.
"And now you know," Proxy cheerfully grinned back, before letting out a giggle.
"Must be very nice for everyone to hear some real songs around here," said Kelsey.
"And one not played out by the Federation either," Jake added.
Then the whole place got a bit dimmer as the rest of the lights were focused on stage, and Proxy was in the middle of it.
"Hello boys and girls of Elmore!" spoke Proxy through the microphone. "Who is ready to hear some 'unsanctioned' music, eh?"
The crowd begin to cheer with approval, while someone screaming, "WE LOVE YOU PROXY!!"
"Yeah that is what I thought," smirked Proxy. "Tonight we have a special guest that decided to bring some joy to this place, and coming from the GREEN ZONE...Chaze Catfelder!!".
The begin crowd roar in cheers and applauses when a tall, skinny cat climb on stage, waving to the audience.
"So Chaze...ready to sing to this rowdy audience?", asks Proxy while getting in position.
"Indeed I am," replies Chaze.
And with it the music starts with a soft acoustic sounds from the violins, follow by the piano. After moments of instrumental playing, Chaze steps into the spotlight.
I didn't know id get so lost up there
above the clouds, in your embrace.
now I can't find myself in any room
the mirror won't reflect my face
I never want to feel this way again
like I can never be repaired again
I've learned my lesson now
I'll stay away somehow
I'll never fall in love again..
The music intensifies, only to subdue...then Proxy steps into the spotlight and both begin to duet.
The stars are winking at the fresh cut lawn
the wind seduces all the trees
I feel my heart not in my hollow chest
but blowing lost among the leaves.
The duet ends with Chaze the one only singing.
I'll never whisper in a woman's ear..
Chaze stops singing while Proxy sings once again.
Not when the aftermath is ohhhh, so near.
Then both begin to take turns with each line, starting with Chaze.
I'll cry my life away
I'll let my smile decay
board all the windows tight
and never leave the house at night.
They both finish off with a duet, the music gets soft but yet intense.
This crazy state I'm in
I'll never fall in love again..
And with it the song was over, the crowd goes wild with cheers and applauses.
“What an amazing performance,” said Jake smiling as the song ended.
“Who wants to place a bet on whether or not those two are a couple?” asked Randal as he raised an eyebrow as the others shrugged.
“It is a possibility,” said Kelsey, as Proxy came back over to their table amidst tumultuous applause.
“So what did you think?” asked the white wolf, with a grin on her face.
“Stellar performance, Proxy.”
“Yeah, you two make quite the duet.”
“Why thank you,” said Proxy giving a little bow.
"That was very amazing!" Jake praised Proxy.
"Now that's something you don't see everyday...or any day, for that matter," Brian commented.
"Looks like we made the right choice to come here after all," said Kelsey.
"Ah, I'm so happy to hear that," Proxy was touched by this.
"I can see why anyone would come here..." Randall began. "This speakeasy practically has everything!"
"Well not everything," replies Proxy as she finds a chair to seat. "But it's enough to make this place a bit comfy."
"So how did you get hired on this place?" asked Kelsey while taking a sip from her drink.
"Well let just say that I was in a 'urban exploration' in the Red zone," saids Proxy. "I manage to get inside of here, you know, back then when they actually didn't had security in here."
"So was this abandoned?", asks Randal.
"Heck no! But it wasn't as pretty as it is now," says Proxy. "Lucky for me, I had some connections that could revamp this shithole. Now look at this place, it's pretty."
"Sooo, how did they hired you exactly?", reiterates Kelsey.
"Like I said, this place was a mess, I offer some help in exchange of a favorable job position, called in some favors," replies Proxy while counting with her fingers. "And with my sexy charms, this place is now place to chill."
"Wow, so for how long they been running this place?" asks Jake.
"Ehhhhh like about a year or two...but who cares, the money is good-ish and the drinks are just fine." confidently says Proxy.
Jake raised up his glass staring into it with curiosity as he took another swig from it.
“What are in these drinks anyways Proxy?”
“Oh, I thought you figured it out already; sewer and bog water of course!”
“WHAT?” asked Jake shocked as he spat out his drink and began wiping his tongue down with the nearest napkin.
“Ha ha, I’m just messing with ya,” said Proxy, punching the coyote on the arm much to his chagrin.
“Don’t do that to me again Proxy... ever,” said Jake with an annoyed expression as Proxy giggled.
“She sure got you, Jake,” said Randal, grinning for once as the coyote turned red with embarrassment and anger.
“Shut up Randy!”
"Whatever you say," Randall continued to chuckle, while Jake let out an annoyed sigh.
"It's alright, Jake. At least it isn't poison," Brian attempted to cheer his friend.
"Yeah, that doesn't seem very reassuring," Jake deadpanned.
"Say, why don't we just relax and have a good time?" Kelsey interjected.
"Yeah, sure thing, Kelsey," Jake agreed.
"Same," Brian and Randall replied simultaneously.
"That's more like it," Proxy said, pleased to hear this.
But just when everything was going alright for the gang, culmination begins to build up at the far end of the establishment, attracting more and more people from the whole room. And to the surprise and horror to everyone, the Peacekeepers were inside.
“ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS,” spoke the leading peacekeeper. “THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS NOT SANCTIONED BY THE NEW FEDERATION GOVERNMENT.”
“Ah crap,” said Proxy while proceeding to drink. “Guess I’m losing this job afterall.”
“ALL CITIZENS PRESENT HERE ARE ACCEPTABLE TO DETENTION,” spoke the peacekeeper while the rest of them begin charge up their batons. “RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.”
“Kiss my arse, yah wanker!” yell a man while throwing his drink at them, actually hitting one of them.
And suddenly the whole place bursts into chaos, as people are running in all directions finding exits, some of them try to engage the peacekeepers but get electrocuted in the process.
And just when the gang has any chance to react, someone yells, “WATCH OUT!”
The group sees many metallic canisters be thrown everywhere, one of them lands near to the group. Proxy yells quickly, “COVER YOUR EYES AND H...”
And canister explodes in a deafening, flashing light that the shockwave throws everyone apart from one another.
Jake lands hard, and is temporarily blinded and disoriented. He tries to get up, his vision slowly coming back, he can barely see the chaos ensuing around him, as people run while others are pinned to the ground.
Jake was quick to jump up and noticed that Randal had a rather rough landing as he had been blasted over a table and had injured his hand on several broken glasses. But other than than he was fine as he got to his feet.
“What happened?” asked Randal, still shaking off the impact as a nearby Peacekeeper attempted to tackle him.
“Don’t worry about me, get Brian and Kelsey outta here!” yelled Randal as the Peacekeeper puts Randal in a headlock as the wolverine fought back viscously.
Jake didn’t have much time to react as he sidestepped a Peacekeeper who tried to ram into him as he hopped onto a table and jumped over.
Jake was looking around for both Kelsey and Brian, but then gets pulled by someone towards a table, to his surprise it was no other than Proxy.
“Proxy! What are you doing!?” said Jake. “I thought you were a goner.”
“Yeah well we are gonna be goner out of here!” said Proxy while surveying the place, with the chaos still ensuing.
“But how?” asked Jake. “I bet a lot Peacekeepers are outside.”
“Welp, you ain’t wrong about that, but you see there is secret escape route, sooo,” said Proxy as she begins to cautiously crawl towards the bar. “So let’s go already!”
“Wait hold on!” yells Jake. “We can’t leave our friends, they need our help.”
Proxy then stops and crawls back to Jake, “Have you gone nuts!? This place is gonna be crawling with Peacekeepers if we don’t leave now...no pun intended.”
“And in case you haven’t notice,” continues Proxy. “Randal was dragged away all messed up, and your other pals are still struggling. So you probably can perhaps save one of them, MAYBE JUST MAYBE have enough time to escape with moi.”
Jake peeks over the table and see two rather familiar and battered faces struggling with some peacekeepers.
One was the familiar purple fox, Brian, his right eye swollen from a hit and the other one was the fennec fox, Kelsey, with a gash along her check and nose.
“But whatever you don’t be a hero and attempt to save them both, you will certainly gonna create attention to yourself and get caught in the proces,” says Proxy as she once again begins to crawl towards the bar. “Or you can just ditch them and escape with me, we have a higher chance to escape with no problems...so what’s gonna be cause we don’t have time.”
Jake froze with indecision, should he save his friend, and buddy since he knew since he was twelve? Or the woman he loved and cared about ever since he was a kid. Or he can attempt to save them both, but there is a chance that he could get caught. Or do the unthinkable and just leave out of dodge without them, at least he is guaranteed to escape unharm. He couldn’t decide, and time is running out.
A)Escape with Kelsey
B)Escape with Brian
C)Attempt to escape with both
D)Escape without them

Part 2: You are here!
Part 3: Coming soon
Alright fellas, so the final part of this story will be up to you guys decide what Jake the coyote should do...so no pressure!
Jake, Randal and Kelsey by
I'm very late to this, but I'd choose A. Save the person he loves, Brian can take care of himself. Attempting to save both is way to risky.
But despite that, the story was great. I'm guessing they're gonna come back here later on.
But oh well. I liked this! OuO
Also, it's nice to know what Chaze looks like.
Also, I think Jake should try to save both, so I'll say C.
